RULES FOR THE 2007 INTERNATIONAL SIDE SADDLE CHAMPIONSHIP
DATE : 16th AND 17th JUNE 2007
I. REGISTRATION
Registration deadlines :
- By Minitel or Internet : 10 days before the competition.
- On site, or by post or fax : 10th June 2007.
Two possibilities :
- I am eligible to ride in competition (Club, Am 3 or 4, Pro 2) and register through the FFE
- I am not eligible to ride in competition and register by fax or post, or on site.
All riders registering for the Competition must have a 2007 federal licence.
Official registrations for the imposed dressage Club 1 and 3 and Free style to Music Club shall be done by Minitel, 3615 FFECOMPET, or internet
http://www.ffe.com/.
Official registrations for Tests B, C and D shall be made by Minitel, 3615 FFECOMPET.
A horse may participate in a maximum of 3 events on Saturday and 3 on Sunday.
Unregistered Horses: Riders with unregistered horses may officially participate in the following events : imposed dressage Club 1, Club 3 and Freestyle-to-Music Club.
Regardless of the method of registration, the attached application form must be sent in as soon as possible, not including payment for riders registering by Minitel or internet.Reminder: Riders registering for 2 events of the same Trophy must pay 6 euros to participate in the awards.
RIDERS PARTICIPATING IN THE AWARDS PRESENTATIONS SHALL BE IN RIDING ATTIRE AND SHALL WALK ACCORDING TO THEIR RANK REGARDLESS OF REGISTRATION.
II – LADIES CUP
Ladies Cup (reserved for riders with the Side Saddle “Galop 7” with “obstacle”, or equivalent for international riders. - First round : Dressage test
(CCE E1).
- Second round : CSO 90 cm maximum, untimed.
- Third round : Hunting course with natural obstacles.
The clasification is made after each test then at the end of the three to define
the winner.
III – JUMPING
Hunter Level 1 : Hunter 70 cm maximum.
Hunter Level 2 : Hunter 50 cm maximum.
Team Jumping : a 3-rider team, with a state licence or a leader for each team, course from 60 to 80 cm.
The timer starts with the first rider and stops when the 3rd rider finishes the course.
The organizer reserves the right to forbid a rider from beginning the Hunting Course if security conditions (rider, horse, harness,...) do not seem optimum.
IV – SIDE SADDLE TROPHY
There are 5 levels of dressage trophies, which enable all riders to participate :
- International Trophy : Imposed Dressage B3 + Freestyle to Music B
- C Trophy : Imposed Dressage C2 + Freestyle to Music C
- D Trophy : imposed dressage D4 + Freestyle to Music D
- Club Trophy : Imposed Dressage Club E1 individual + Freestyle to Music Club E1 individual
- Hope Trophy : Imposed Dressage Club E3
The Hope Trophy is awarded for only one event. It is reserved for riders who are just beginning to compete and have the French Side Saddle “Galop” 1 to 5, or equivalent for international riders.
International Trophies C, D and Club are composed of 2 rounds : 1 Freestyle to Music and one Imposed Dressage.
For the Freestyle to Music events, CDs or audio cassettes marked with the rider’s name and event shall be given to the “Accueil Concurrentes” (Competitors Reception) stand before
Saturday, 16th June, 9:00 a.m.V – DISPLAYS
Open to teams of 2 or more riders. At least half of the team must ride side saddle.
CDs or audio cassettes marked with the Display Team name shall be given to the “Accueil Concurrentes” (Competitors Reception) stand before Saturday, 16th June, 9:00 a.m.
Dressage test area will be 20m x 60m.
Displays must not exceed 6 minutes.
The panel of judges will be composed of 3 persons chosen from the spectators and the officials.
The “entertainment” aspect of the display will be judged on three criteria:
- Esthetics : costumes, uniformity of the team, enjoyment of the display
- Harmony and synchronization of the steps and the music
- Symetry of the figures

VI – COSTUME EVENTS
Costume events will be judged independently from any other show. Horses and ponies may participate. It is not mandatory to participate in another event of the Championship to register for these shows. Only one ranking will be made for all riders, regardless of age or breed of horse.
Important : It is not possible to wear the same costume for different costume events.
VI.1 –ELEGANCEDefinition according to the Larousse Dictionary :
« Elegance : refined, dignified gracefulness, beauty of style - elegance of attire, grooming ».
This event will be judged according to:
- Grooming of the horse
- Harmony of the horse and rider
- Attention to the costume and its cut
- Distinction and skill of the rider
VI.2 - HISTORICAL COSTUMESRiders wishing to participate must present and specify the era.
Costumes must be inspired by an etching, painting, photograph, text etc. This element must be sent in with the registration form.
This event will be judged according to :
- Grooming of the horse
- Harmony of the horse and rider
- Appropriateness of accessories, jewellery, shoes, saddle pad, harness, etc., for the chosen era
- Accuracy of the costume compared to the image, etc. sent in with the registration form.
VI.3 – FANTASY - FANCY DRESSDefinition according to the Larousse Dictionary :
« Create or act in an original way».
This event will be judged according to :
- Originality, imagination
- Creativityv
- Harmony of the horse and rider
VII – TEAM TROPHY
The team with the best performance during the Championship will be awarded the Team Trophy, which is up for grabs each year. Teams will be judged based on the following :
The three best results of each team, obtained in at least 2 different events, will give a specific number of points to the team according to the rank of each rider (example : 1st place : 20 points, 2nd place : 10 points, 3rd place : 5 points etc ). The team receiving the highest number of points will be awarded the Team Trophy that is kept until the next year, at which time riders will vie for the Trophy again. In addition, each member will receive a plaque and a ribbon.
To participate in the Team Trophy event you must: - be a team of 3 to 5 riders of the same or different nationalities, from the same or different clubs, or just individual riders forming a team.
- fill in the team registration form that is provided in the case offered to participants when they arrive, or download the form.
VIII – RIDING ATTIRE
Dressage :- Dark-coloured jacket and apron are compulsory : black, grey, dark blue, dark green, bordeaux.
- Hats are authorized for the C, D,
and International Trophies.
- European Standard EN 1384 Riding Hat is compulsory for all junior riders and riders in the Club and Hope Trophies, Imposed Dressage and Freestyle to Music events.
- Dressage whip
- Gloves for the Imposed Dressage event.
- Attire must harmonise with the theme chosen for Freestyle to Music events
Hunter : - European Standard EN 1384 Riding Hat is compulsory.
- Jacket compulsory with short skirt (recommended) or apron.
- Whip or short riding crop.
Hunting Course :- European Standard EN 1384 Riding Hat is compulsory.
- Back protection compulsory for riders.
- Apron or short skirt mandatory.
- Crop less than 60 cm in length.
Display, Costume Events :- European Standard EN 1384 Riding Hat is compulsory for all junior riders and for Club 3 category riders.
IX - HARNESSING
IMPORTANT : each horse will have a headpiece number that will be kept throughout the events, and a number for the hunting course. These will be provided at the Reception upon arrival. 10 deposit required.
Dressage :- Crupper allowed.
- Snaffle, standing martingale, running martingale, gogue for the III Trophy.
- Bridle and spurs authorized.
- Permitted mouthpieces : bits of rubber, shank, egg-butt, ordinary mouthpieces.
- Pelham forbidden.
- Permitted nosebands : cavesson, drop, grackle.
- Bit guards and wraps are forbidden.
Hunter and Hunting Course :- Crupper allowed.
- Snaffle, standing martingale, running.
- Permitted mouthpieces : bits of rubber, shank, egg-butt, ordinary mouthpieces, pelham, 3- or 4-ring elevator, gag. These bits can be used with or without lunging strap.
The harnessing rules must be applied in the paddock.
X – STUD FARM RULES
No parking on the grass.
Horses are forbidden on the grass alongside the arenas.
Competition Arenas : The arenas for the Hunter competition and the Dressage 1 and 2 competitions are reserved for the events. It is strictly forbidden to train in these arenas before the competitions. Riders may warm up in the Training Arena before competitions.
Priority to the left.
XI – PHOTOGRAPHIC RIGHTS
Riders give the FACE, as well as the official public and private sponsors of the event, permission to use their image and that of their horse during the Championship.Images may be used in all types of media : photography, press, television, video, filmed report of the event, without any financial or material compensation to anyone.All registrations imply that riders authorise the use of their image.
